Don’t bite the hand that feeds you
Considering communism’s previous experiences with growing food, they should probably be paying a bit more attention.
In the middle of a supply chain crisis, both America and Canada have decided to mandate vaccines for truckers crossing national borders. It really seems like this action is likely to hurt Canada far more than the United States. Which is likely why Canada is seeing a Freedom Convoy of truckers and citizens headed to Ottawa.
Good for them. Peacefully protesting is a cornerstone of healthy western democracies and republics. Riots and arson are the cornerstones of unhealthy democracies and republics, and even more so when described as ‘peaceful protests.’
However, it really is important that the ruling elites be reminded of a few things, because at some level our societies require us to get along with each other well enough to survive.
First, most of them could not take care of themselves in a crisis. They are surrounded by people whose only job is to provide for or protect them. President Biden can’t even speak for more than 10 minutes without help, or he ends up telling Russia to invade the Ukraine. Somehow, Trudeau was too dumb to not wear blackface to a party. Do you seriously expect me to believe that Bill Gates or Klaus Schwab could feed themselves?
Second, a few crises could irreparably harm assets that have little material value. Let’s just say we do go to war with Russia over Ukraine and end up winning. Perhaps someone in Russia’s chain of command decides to borrow a hypersonic glider from the Chinese and nuke Silicon Valley out of spite. How much value would be effectively gone in the blink of a eye?
Third, the elites exist only at the patience of the masses. It’s something the left constantly tries to take advantage of for the purpose of attacking those who dare to buck the party line. But it’s true. New York, Los Angeles, San Francisco—they are all unsustainable cities. If enough truck drivers or farmers decided that what they were paid wasn’t worth the disrespect they receive, then those cities would quickly look like apocalyptic hellscapes.
It should be in everyone’s best interest to pursue systems that keep the greatest amount of us content and able to satisfactorily participate in society. Capitalism, as it should be, enables that better than any system we have ever seen. But the elites are using COVID to pursue policies that empower only a small slice of society to participate. You either need to be stupidly wealthy, a leftist politician, or some oppressed group to participate. It has become a race to become the most oppressed – even when that requires throwing out reason, intelligence, and common sense.
Put simply, our advanced world requires a lot of moving pieces being in the right place at the right time. The elites are messing with systems that they don’t understand at all, and if enough pieces are in the wrong place at the wrong time our advanced world reverts back to the stone age.
